On January 15, 2021, the Director, Office of National Intelligence, and the Acting Director, Office of Personnel Management, issued a joint Executive Correspondence (EC), “Transforming Federal Personnel Vetting:  Continuous Vetting and Other Measures to Expedite Reform and Transition to Trusted Workforce (TW) 2.0.”  The EC outlines a phased approach for the Executive Branch to transition from the current periodic reinvestigation-based model to the Trusted Workforce (TW) 2.0 continuous vetting (CV) framework.  Under CV, all cleared individuals’ records are reviewed continuously during their period of eligibility to determine whether the individual continues to meet the requirements for maintaining eligibility for access to classified information.

One of the automated records checks required by the TW 2.0 CV framework is the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Next Generation Information Rap Back System (Rap Back).  The attached FAQs are being provided for informational purposes for covered individuals.
