This project announcement supports the Floating Offshore Wind Shot, which aims to drive U.S. leadership in floating offshore wind.

Building on transmission studies and convening efforts initiated on the East Coast, DOE’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory will conduct a literature review of West Coast offshore wind transmission-related studies to date, covering regions along California, Oregon, and Washington coastlines

This literature review and gaps analysis, based on prior and ongoing analyses as well as western state policies, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management leasing activities, and perspectives from transmission system operators and planners in the Western Interconnection will guide future research investments that address transmission needs for near term and long-term offshore wind deployment on the west coast.
