DOE Total Funding: $724,991
FY20 DOE Funding: $724,991
Cost Share: $0
Project Term: June 1, 2022 to May 31, 2025
Funding Type: Buildings Energy Efficiency Frontiers & Innovation Technologies (BENEFIT) FOA – 2020
Project Objective
The project will enable today’s energy-efficiency professionals to grow their understanding and capabilities with new grid-interactive energy technologies, also commonly referred to as demand flexible loads, which will be delivered in a series of accredited online courses, utilizing the latest advancements in eLearning technology, including virtual reality and artificial intelligence-driven instructional design.
Project Impact
The project will develop at least eight eLearning modules focused on demand flexibility as part of new FLAT project courses, and part of an “education ecosystem” – the combination of course design, pedagogy, user experiences, competency models, and analytics. The goal is to reach more than 1.5 million potential learners in order to educate and prepare at least 50,000 learners to enter or progress within the energy sector by the end of three years. Also, to reach 700,000 potential learners to successfully engage with at least 20,000 learners living in hard-to-reach or underserved communities.
