Advanced Manufacturing & Industrial Decarbonization
December 20, 2022The Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) is looking for individuals to join our Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Technologies Office (AMMTO) and Industrial Efficiency and Decarbonization Office (IEDO). We welcome your interest and help in sharing these roles with your networks. These positions below are open to the public.
AMMTO Career Opportunities:
While we will be accepting applications until positions are filled, applications should be submitted as soon as possible for best consideration.
Circular Economy Technologies and Systems Technology Manager (GS-13)
This technology manager will serve as a subject matter expert in the development and implementation of circular economy technologies and systems activities to improve the research, development, commercialization, and adoption of these technologies in the United States.
This technology manager will work with their supervisor to develop appropriate metrics, goals, and objectives for the circular economy team based on a deep understanding of the technical and commercial viability of ReX (reuse, remanufacturing, recycling, etc.) pathways for a variety of manufactured materials. AMMTO’s circular economy portfolio includes design for recyclability, remanufacturing, and reuse of materials from plastics to metals, fibers, composites, and electronics as well as tools and methodology development for lifecycle assessment to enable more informed research and technology investment decisions.
Materials for Harsh Service Conditions Technology Manager (GS-13)
This technology manager will serve as a subject matter expert in the development and implementation of materials for harsh service conditions activities to improve the research, development, commercialization, and adoption of these technologies in the United States. These activities spur innovation in the development and manufacturing of materials that can withstand the harsh service environments needed to improve the efficiency, durability, and cost of clean energy and manufacturing technologies, including high temperature turbines, offshore wind, and nuclear energy.
This technology manager will work with their supervisor to develop appropriate metrics, goals, and objectives for the materials for harsh service conditions team based on a thorough and deep technical understanding of manufacturing technologies, and related industry, community, and market needs. Harsh service environments can involve high temperatures and thermal cycling, high pressures, corrosive chemicals, dust and particulates, and mechanical wear.
IEDO Career Opportunities
Please submit your application by January 13th for best consideration. We will accept applications after that, but will begin interviewing for these positions in early January.
Cross-Sector Technologies Technology Manager (GS-13 and GS-14)
DOE is looking to welcome two general engineers / physical scientists who will serve as subject matter experts in the development and implementation of process heating technologies and systems activities and low carbon fuels and feedstocks respectively to improve the research, development, commercialization, and adoption of these technologies in the United States. One of these positions will be at the GS-13 level and the other at GS-14.
Energy- and Emissions-Intensive Industries Technology Manager (GS-14)
This technology manager will serve as a subject matter expert in the development and implementation of industry-specific efficiency and decarbonization activities to improve the research, development, commercialization, and adoption of these technologies in the United States. Applicants should expect to manage a portfolio covering industry-specific efficiency and decarbonization technologies for a broad set of industries, like metals, glass, and ceramics production, among others.
