John E. Dupuy is the Director of the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Enterprise Assessments (EA). Mr. Dupuy is responsible for independent oversight and regulatory enforcement associated with environment, safety and health; emergency management; safeguards and security; and cyber security disciplines within DOE and the National Nuclear Security Administration, as well as oversight of safety and security training for DOE employees provided by the National Training Center. Mr. Dupuy also provides leadership in the management of EA resources and operations. He previously served as the Deputy Director of EA.
Mr. Dupuy joined EA from the DOE Office of Inspector General (OIG) where he served for five years. Mr. Dupuy was the Deputy Inspector General and, prior to that, the Deputy Inspector General for Investigations. Mr. Dupuy was responsible for independent audits, inspections and investigations of the Department’s programs and operations. Mr. Dupuy has been part of the OIG community since 1991, having served in a variety of positions starting as a special agent and increasing in levels of leadership positions until rising to that of Deputy Inspector General. Mr. Dupuy has experience at the Department of Homeland Security OIG, with prior experience at the Department of the Interior and Department of Housing and Urban Development’s OIG. Mr. Dupuy was also the Director of the Inspector General Criminal Investigator Academy where he had training oversight for special agents in the OIG community.
Mr. Dupuy graduated from UCLA in 1987 with a degree in political science. He served in the United States Army as a Military Intelligence Officer. Mr. Dupuy attended Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco and the American University Washington College of Law in Washington, D.C., and is a graduate of the FBI National Executive Institute. He is a member of the Virginia and Washington D.C. Bar Associations and was an Adjunct Professor at the American University Washington College of Law. He is married and lives with his wife and two daughters in Virginia.
