Building America New Construction Support program connects builders directly with DOE experts to solve challenges and speed up new construction

WASHINGTON—The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today launched the Building America New Construction Support program, which will provide technical support to residential, commercial, and industrial builders. By offering direct access to experts from DOE and the U.S. National Laboratories, the program will help its partners build faster, reduce costs, and deliver savings to everyday Americans.
“This program will provide unbiased technical analysis and promote cost-saving innovations,” said Assistant Secretary of Energy Audrey Robertson. “Our goal is to help builders, manufacturers, and contractors scale production and meet demand for lower-cost, higher-quality buildings.”
The cost and time required to build new housing, commercial buildings, data centers, and factories has become a barrier to meeting demand from Americans who want to buy a home and from industry that wants to expand and create new economic opportunities. Through the Building America New Construction Support program, builders can bring specific technical challenges to DOE and get matched with experts equipped to solve them. The program comes at no direct cost to builders. Technical support areas include product design and materials innovation; advanced digital and AI-driven tools to identify design issues early and automate workflows; and factory optimization.
The program builds on more than 26 years of Building America's work supporting the building industry and on DOE's Advanced Building Construction initiative, which has funded 29 projects validating off-site construction and retrofit technologies since 2018. The Building America New Construction Support program allows DOE to respond directly and quickly to immediate builder needs.
The program is open to builders of all sizes. Builders and industry stakeholders can request technical assistance through the Building America New Construction Support form on the Building America website. Requests will be reviewed, and DOE will make every effort to match requests with available resources. Findings from each engagement will be summarized and published on the Building America Solution Center.
