The Honorable Tina M. Pierce serves as the Chief Financial Officer at the U.S. Department of Energy, following her appointment by President Donald J. Trump and Senate confirmation on September 18, 2025.  As CFO, Ms. Pierce serves as the principal advisor to the Secretary of Energy on all budgetary and financial matters, including the development and execution of the Department’s $50 billion annual budget and the Agency Financial Report. In addition, she is responsible for financial policy, internal controls, performance improvement, strategic planning, and stewardship of DOE’s corporate business systems.

Ms. Pierce previously served as Deputy Chief Financial Officer at the Department of War (DoW), where she strengthened the Department's financial framework across policy, audit, remediation, and reporting functions. She led compliance efforts with government accounting standards and federal regulations while establishing best practices for effective and efficient resource stewardship.

Before her DoW appointment, Ms. Pierce served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Financial Operations in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Financial Management and Comptroller. In this capacity, she successfully implemented provisions of the CFO Act and related financial management reforms, ensured timely and accurate financial statement submissions, and directed the Department's Financial Improvement and Audit Remediation program at the executive level.

An Idaho native, Ms. Pierce was commissioned as a Marine Corps officer in 1991 and served in operational and staff financial management assignments worldwide. Following active duty, she held senior finance and accounting positions across public and private sectors in the United States and Europe, including roles with Iomega International, SA (information technology); Southern California Edison (nuclear energy); Colorado State University (education); and as a consultant on military service audit remediation efforts. She returned to federal service in 2018 as Senior Accountant and Chief of Financial Reporting and Compliance with the Defense Health Agency.

Ms. Pierce was appointed to the Senior Executive Service in August 2020. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Utah and a Master of Business Administration from Colorado State University. She is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
