Secretary Perry to Sign MOU With The Weill Family Foundation and Participate In AI Roundtable Discussion

Officials from government, private sector and academic communities will discuss the importance of American leadership in Artificial Intelligence.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Monday, August 26, 2019, U.S. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry will host an AI Roundtable on DOE-fueled Artificial Intelligence at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He will be joined by a wide array of leaders from the government, private sector and academic communities to discuss the importance of American leadership in Artificial Intelligence. The topics will range from the importance of innovation in novel AI technologies to their impact in a broad range of sectors from Business and Operations, to Cybersecurity, the Energy Sector, Healthcare and Neuroscience.  DOE is home to the fastest supercomputers in the world that are providing an important foundation to America’s success and global dominance in Artificial Intelligence. The Secretary looks forward to hosting these leaders at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory for a productive dialogue on these issues.

Following the roundtable, Secretary Perry and Mr. Sandy Weill will sign an MOU between the Department of Energy and the Weill Family Foundation to formally initiate a public-private partnership to apply DOE Fueled Artificial Intelligence capabilities to advance transformative scientific opportunities in biomedical and public health research.
