The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide federal funding to ZoomEssence, Inc. for further development of their DriZoom spray drying technology that atomizes liquids to powders at ambient temperature. Project activities include improvements in emulsion formulation as well as atomizer and dryer control system development. All work would occur at the ZoomEssence manufacturing and research facility located in Hebron, Kentucky. All material handling would occur in accordance with proper protocols and standards. The project would generate food grade materials that would be disposed of according to appropriate protocols. The National Science Foundation is also providing Phase II Small Business Innovation Research funding to further the scale and development of the technology. Additional NEPA review may be required by the National Science Foundation for their funding of the project.
