January 6, 2014Glass Microsphere Encapsulation of Hydrogen Absorbents
CX(s) Applied: B3.6
Date: 01/06/2014
Location(s): South Carolina
Offices(s): Savannah River Operations Office
The purpose of this task is to develop and investigate hollow glass microspheres (HGMs) and porous wall hollow glass microspheres (PWHGMs) which can be used as fillers, absorbents, and additives. This process involves HGM formation, heat treatment of the microspheres to induce phase separation, and in the case of porous micropsheres, acid leaching the borate phase.
