Three shallow vadose zone wells, designated as M-Area Oil Injection (MOI), wells were installed in 2009 as part of a pilot to test the effectiveness of Vadose Oil Substrate (VOS™) in the treatment of chlorinated volatile organic compounds (cVOCs) along a section of the abandoned M-Area Process Sewer Line (MAPSL). The pilot has been completed and no further injection of VOS will be performed. Therefore, the three injection wells will be abandoned in place by grouting.
