The seismic capacity for the equipment class of Instrumentation and Control Panels (I&C) may be based on earthquake experience data. This equipment class includes all types of electrical panels that support instrumentation and controls. This equipment class includes both the sheet metal enclosure and typical control and instrumentation components mounted on or inside the enclosure. Instrumentation and control panels and cabinets create a centralized location for the control and monitoring of electrical and mechanical systems. In addition to main control panels, local instrumentation and control panels are sometimes distributed throughout the facilities, close to the systems they serve.
