The 2026 DOE Office of Electricity, Transformer Resilience and Advanced Components (TRAC) Program Peer Review assembles researchers from across the DOE landscape – national laboratories, industry, government, and academia – to present key R&D efforts focused on the next generation of grid hardware. Participants will discuss and review the results, developments, and impact of work funded by the TRAC program to date helping to achieve affordable, reliable, and secure electric transmission and distribution.

Commercializing Innovation in Grid Transformers and Advanced Components
Dr. Isik C. Kizilyalli is an entrepreneur focused on energy, defense technologies, industry, and resiliency and adaptation. He recently served as Sr. Director of Technology at Stanford University’s School of Sustainability Accelerator and previously as Associate Director of Technology and Program Director at ARPA-E. His investments at ARPA-E include power electronics devices, circuits/systems, DC fault protection, grid technologies including transformers and switch gear, as well as subsurface technology innovations (geothermal, oil and gas, decommissioning abandoned assets). He founded and led Avogy Inc. (GaN power electronics) and Zolt Inc., (consumer electronics with multiple CES 2015 awards), after earlier technical leadership roles at AT&T Bell Laboratories, Nitronex (1st GaN on Si HEMT), and Alta Devices (high efficiency solar PV). An IEEE Life Fellow (for his contributions to "Integrated Circuit Technology"), Bell Labs Distinguished Member of Technical Staff, author of three Springer-Nature books and more than 100 papers, and holder of 127 issued U.S. patents, Kizilyalli earned his B.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
