The DOE National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service (USFS), Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Taos Field Office, issued a final Environmental Assessment for Los Alamos National Laboratory Electrical Power Capacity Upgrade Project (DOE/EA-2199). This EA which assesses the potential environmental impacts of DOE/NNSA's proposed construction and continued operation of a 115 kilovolt (kV) power transmission line from the Public Service Company of New Mexico–owned Norton Substation to LANL, upgrading LANL's existing electrical infrastructure to accommodate the additional transmission line and associated electrical upgrades needed across the LANL campus, and proposed amendments to the 2022 Santa Fe National Forest Land Management Plan that would allow for the designation of a utility corridor specific to this proposed transmission line on National Forest System lands.
