DOE/EA-2239: Moose Creek Wind Farm Project

Summary

NextEra Energy Resources, LLC has proposed to construct an approximately 100-megawatt (MW) wind energy generating facility that includes approximately 30 to 45 turbines and associated pads. The Project would interconnect to Western Area Power Administration's (WAPA) electrical transmission system at our existing Valley City 115-kV substation. The EA will be tiered to the WAPA and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service 2015 Upper Great Plains Wind Energy Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (DOE/EIS-0408).

Public Comment Opportunities

WAPA is announcing a public scoping period for the Project from October 18 - November 17, 2023. The scoping period provides an opportunity for the general public, government agencies, and tribal governments to identify issues and alternatives that will help WAPA define the scope of the EA.

One virtual public scoping meeting will be held to provide an opportunity for interested parties to discuss the Project with resource specialists and to submit comments. The meeting will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM CDT.
