DOE ordered BMR to pay a $20,000 civil penalty after finding BMR had failed to certify that certain models of electric motors equipment comply with the applicable energy conservation standards. The Order adopted a Compromise Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and BMR.

DOE regulations require a manufacturer (which includes importers) to submit reports certifying that each basic model of its products have been tested and meet the applicable standards.
