AMP Robotics (AMP) and Idaho National Laboratory (INL) propose to develop a multimodal sensor that can identify, in real time, the organic and plastic constituents of the municipal solid waste (MSW) stream diverted to landfills and characterize their Critical Material Attributes (CMAs), such as moisture content, caloric content, ash content, total volatile solids, etc., which are important to the success of downstream waste to energy processes such as gasification, incineration, pyrolysis, etc.
