The Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (TJNAF or Jefferson Lab (J-Lab)) used a tritium filled vessel in a fundamental physics experiment. They then packaged the vessel in a Bulk Tritium Shipping Packaging (BTSP) container and shipped it to SRTE. Because the BTSP container has been sitting inside building 234-H since August 2018, the container is presumed to be "hot" (will potentially release tritium to atmosphere once unpacked). SRTE plans to vent the BTSP container to the atmosphere before they unpack it. The vessel will then be unloaded and disposed.
