ClearPath VII Quick Look Report

In May 2019, the Department of Energy’s Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response conducted its seventh iteration of the Clear Path Exercise, an all-hazards, regionally-focused, preparedness series. During Clear Path VII, participants from the energy sector, federal and state government partners across the Mississippi Valley worked through a major earthquake scenario along the New Madrid Seismic Zone, impacting both electricity and oil and natural gas infrastructure.

Exercises like the Clear Path series are a practical means of strengthening the nation’s security while growing the public-private sector partnerships. Exercises help the Department of Energy and its energy sector partners update policies and procedures, identify areas for continued improvement, and enhance regional preparedness.

The Clear Path VII Quick Look Report provides an exercise retrospective and details, including objectives, a summary, and areas of both strength and improvement as identified by participants.
