The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide federal funding to Boston University (BU) for the development and testing of a blower door airflow system. Project activities include the development of the basic system hardware (commercial blower door apparatus and testing panel for windows), algorithms, and system implementation software; testing of the airflow system (hardware, algorithms, and software) within multiple buildings in the northeast region and two other climate zone regions; monitoring and extended data gathering for building tests; development of an airflow model; and energy analysis. The exact locations where testing of the blower door airflow system would occur has yet to be determined.
