The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide federal funding to Duke University (Duke) to produce and evaluate the production of biofuels from marine microalgae to demonstrate a reduced overall demand for CO2 with increased yields. Duke would lead a consortium of researchers which would include the University of California at Santa Cruz (UCSC), Bucknell University, and B&D Engineering and Consulting.
