The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide funding to Purdue University to design, develop, fabricate, and test high-temperature ceramic-bearing composite materials, with the objective of identifying new ceramic composites with high corrosion resistance, high failure strength, and the capability of being manufactured in tailored shapes at low-cost. Both oxide-bearing and carbide-bearing composites would be tested for the desired characteristics. The project would be completed over a single Budget Period.
