The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) proposes to enter into a subcontract with the University of Portsmouth (UOP) in Portsmouth, United Kingdom, to investigate various microbial and fungal targets to identify enzymes that enhance the degradation of lignin. Enzymes of interest would be cloned using bacteria and modified to improve enzyme kinetics for industrial applications.
