The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide funding to the Louisiana State Energy Office to upgrade lighting along five streets in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana through their revolving loan fund. While proposed activities vary slightly at each location, overall efforts would include installing street light poles with LED lights, removing above ground power lines with attached street lights and adding below ground power lines, and retrofitting street light fixtures with LED bulbs. All sites would result in high efficient LED street lighting. Energy savings with LED lights is expected to be between 25%-75%.
