The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide federal funding to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) for the design, development, fabrication, and laboratory testing of advanced fuel cell membrane materials. Design and development activities would occur at RPI’s campus in Troy, New York. Fabrication activities would occur at Xergy located in Harrington, Delaware, and laboratory testing of fuel cell membranes would be conducted at Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico over a two-year period. Any work proposed to be conducted at a federal facility may be subject to additional NEPA review by the cognizant federal official and must meet the applicable health and safety requirements of the facility.
