The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide funding to Columbia University to develop software that would enable a comparative evaluation of resources and desalination technology options and use geospatial data layers to identify high-potential regions for solar thermal desalination. All the proposed project activities are analytical, computer-based modeling and simulations of solar thermal desalination systems. All activities would be performed in offices at Columbia University in New York and would consist exclusively of information gathering, data analysis, computer modeling, conceptual design, feasibility studies, document preparation, information dissemination and paper publications.
