The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide federal funding to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) to develop in-situ experimental techniques and methodologies for understanding of the mechanisms of molten salt surface corrosion kinetics and fundamental properties. Design, development, and fabrication activities would occur at RPI in New York. Equipment testing and experimentation would occur at RPI, Virginia Tech in Virginia, National Institute of Standards and Technology in Maryland, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee.
