The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide funding to the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) to develop and demonstrate improved probabilistic forecasting methods for solar irradiance and power. The techniques developed would then be used in computer simulations of power system operations to identify potential operational improvements for three different utilities; namely, Duke Energy, Hawaiian Electric, and Southern Company.
