The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide funding to The Johns Hopkins University to develop a data-driven platform for probabilistic short-term (0-6 hour ahead) and mid-term (day-ahead) solar power forecasting, which would then be integrated into California Independent Service Operator (CAISO) and Mid-Continent Independent Service Operator (MISO) market and control center operations. Project activities would include information gathering, data analysis and categorization, database management, software systems development, probabilistic solar power forecast framework development, computer modeling, development of data visualization tools, and systems integration testing with independent system operator (ISO) partners.
