Sandhills Community College (SCC) in North Carolina proposes to use $227,873 of Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant funding to install light-emitting diode (LED) street lighting on the SCC campus assist with the purchase a fleet of advanced technology vehicles. The LED lighting system will replace SCC's out-dated lighting system that uses 460-watt metal halide units and the purchase of the new fleet of vehicles will reduce SCC's fossil fuel consumption and save on energy costs and emissions. State Energy Program funds will only be used to help cover the delta in cost that is associated with the upgrade from regular emission to hybrid/electric standards for all newly purchased fleet vehicles.
