Western proposes add a second 230/138 kilovolt (kV) autotransformer at Glen Canyon Substation to provide redundant power to Garkane Energy. A used 230/138 transformer from Hayden Substation will be transported to Glen Canyon for installation. A new foundation will be installed within the existing fenced and graveled substation area. New 230-kV and 138-kV bus work will also be installed. The new configuration includes the addition of two new 138-kV circuit breakers. A temporary transmission line connection, called a shoofly, will be constructed; it will consist of wood pole structures.
