The Mission Support Alliance Biological Controls organization routinely applies herbicides on gravel roads and along shoulders of paved roads on the Hanford Site to control vegetation and maintain critical fire breaks. These roadways are initially sprayed with non-selective herbicides to remove all vegetation. Follow-up spot spraying with selective herbicides is performed, as needed, to control vegetation that grows in treated areas.
