Department of Energy is proposing to provide federal funding to the Austin Independent School District in order to purchase photovoltaic (PV) panels and the associated hardware for installations at 21 schools in Austin, Texas. Each location will have approximately 16 PV panels installed (2.8 kilowatts) on "Open Air Learning Centers" located at each school. In addition, funds will be used to develop and provide solar related educational curriculum for each of the schools involved in the project.
