Ocean Power Technologies, Inc. (OPT) has requested to interconnect up to 2-megawatts of wave generation power to Douglas Electric Cooperative's (DEC) 13.8-kilovolt distribution service territory in Douglas County, Oregon. DEC?s distribution system in the area is served by the existing Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) Gardiner Substation and is therefore within BPA?s balancing authority. To integrate the new generation into BPA?s balancing authority, BPA would need to install typical metering and communications equipment at the existing BPA Gardiner substation and at the new DEC Shore Station, where the wave park feeder line would interconnect. The equipment would be installed on pre-fabricated racks within the BPA and project site control houses.
