DOE completed an environmental assessment (DOE/EA-1339) and finding of no significant impact (FONSI) in 2002 for proposed disposition of polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) waste, low-level radioactive waste (LLW), mixed low-level radioactive waste (MLLW), and transuranic (TRU) waste from the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant Site in Paducah, Kentucky. All of the wastes would be transported for disposal at various locations in the United States.
In 2003, DOE completed an addendum to the EA (DOE/EA-1339-A) and associated FONSI. The EA addendum addressed DOE’s proposed increase in the volume of waste to be dispositioned.
