July 14, 2015Oregon State University proposes to establish a round robin test plan for supercritical carbon dioxide (S-CO2) corrosion testing and the organization of an S-CO2 Materials Group to guide future materials testing directions. This proposal relates S-CO2 corrosion data to existing industrial supercritical steam corrosion data by performing identical tests in both environments and comparing corrosion rates and mechanisms. Model alloys with various composition and environmental conditions will also be tested and accompanied by modeling efforts to study rate controlling mechanisms of corrosion and to help understand the effects of impurities.
