July 18, 2016Kansas State University, in collaboration with the University of Illinois and Argonne National Laboratory, proposes to use thermographic imaging and Ultrasonic Doppler Velocimetry techniques to generate high fidelity thermal stratification and flow field data under various geometric and physical conditions for scaled modes of outlet plena in sodium-cooled fast reactors. This proposed project is aimed to design and perform scaled experiments with liquid metals in a system equipped with high fidelity instrumentation to obtain velocity and temperature distribution data in different geometrical and thermal-hydraulic boundary conditions.
