CX-270249: Microstructure, Thermal, and Mechanical Properties Relationships in U and UZr Alloy

The proposed research will use the state-of-the-art, 3D, synchrotron-based characterization techniques, novel techniques that couple thermal and mechanical properties, existing experimental facilities, and complementary multiscale modeling to evaluate microstructure-properties relationships (both thermal and mechanical) in U and UZr alloys that have been previously neutron irradiated. The research is divided into three task areas: 1.) Microstructural Evolution; 2.) In-situ/ex-situ Thermal and Mechanical Properties; and 3.) Multiscale Modeling Connections to Microstructure, Thermal, and Mechanical Properties.
