Funding will support the project team's small-scale, research and development activities to develop single-stage, universal power converters using Silicon Insulated-Gate Bipolar Transistors and Silicon Carbide Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistors. Specifically, the project team will: (1) finalize the design of a silicon-based prototype to meet efficiency, weight, cost, and lifetime goals and (2) fabricate and test the silicon-based prototype.
