The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide federal funding to Power Integration Laboratory, LLC to develop a hardware prototype of a scalable 60-100 kW photovoltaic (PV) inverter.
Proposed project activities would include the design, development, assembly, and laboratory testing of an advanced inverter for photovoltaic applications. Software models would be developed at Formlabs in Somerville, MA. Design, development, assembly, and testing activities would occur at Power Integration Laboratory’s research and development facility in Urbana, Illinois. The facilities in which these activities would occur are purpose-built for the type of activities being proposed; therefore, no adverse impacts to sensitive resources are expected as a result of the proposed project. No change in the use, mission or operation of existing facilities would arise out of this effort.
