The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide federal funding to the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR) to implement an energy efficiency measure (LED lighting retrofit) and construct a fixed-rack, ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) array clean energy system to eliminate the net demand for grid-based power for three tribal buildings.
Activities associated with the proposed project would include procurement and installation of LED lighting at the CTUIR Field Station, Public Transit Center Bus Barn and Public Transit Center Maintenance Shop and design, installation and interconnection of a 96.6 kW solar PV array at the CTUIR Field Station in Pendleton, OR. LED lighting installation would involve wiring and bulb replacement within each fixture and would require two weeks per building to complete the retrofit process. Installation of the PV array would involve installation of concrete footers, the racking system, solar panels and necessary conduit and wiring on previously disturbed land as well as the relocation of pre-existing fencing.
