The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide federal funding to Verdant Power, Inc. to conduct an integrated design process to develop, build, deploy and operate a TriFrame (TF) mounting structure with three Verdant Power Gen5 KHPS tidal water turbines at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)-licensed Roosevelt Island Tidal Energy (RITE) Project in the East River of New York City, NY.
The Verdant Power project is one of three proposed projects that were selected by DOE under the Funding Opportunity Announcement DE-FOA-0001310. Each of the three proposed projects would consist of three budget periods (BP). Verdant Power received a previous NEPA determination (GFO-0007394-001, A9, March 14, 2016) for BP1 activities. At this time BP 1 has been completed and Verdant Power, Inc. has been selected to go forward to BP2. A Go/No GO decision will be made after BP2 to determine continuation onto BP3. Therefore, This NEPA determination applies only to BP 2 of the Verdant Power, Inc. award.
