The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide funding to Northeastern University to design, develop, and test a combined transmission and distribution system state estimator model.

The project would develop a state estimator for monitoring the transmission and distribution systems together as a whole. The state estimator model would take into account large system size, model complexity, and large number of solar PV units connected to the distribution system on multiple feeders. Development, design, and testing activities would occur at Northeastern University (Boston, MA) and at PJM Engineering (Audubon, PA).
