Chloride is required to be stripped from ten batches (50 kg each) of Reillex HPQ ion exchange resin in 786-A to prevent chloride stress corrosion cracking of stainless steel piping and vessels during HB-Line processing of plutonium. Also, the resin needs to be converted to the nitrate form prior to use in processing nitrate feed stock.
