DOE is proposing to provide funding to Strategic Analysis, Inc. to assess the technical status of hydrogen storage systems suitable for automotive, stationary, portable and fork-lift applications with details sufficient to track system performance and manufacturability. The project would prepare detailed annual cost estimates of hydrogen storage systems to reflect optimized components and manufacturing processes, investigate system cost sensitivities in response to various key cost parameters, and report findings in annual reports, updated storage system cost status records and other documents upon request.
Project activities include estimation of the physical design and cost of various hydrogen storage systems (for storage of hydrogen in conjunction with fuel cell automobiles), computer modeling, and feasibility/performance analysis. All activities consists entirely of intellectual, academic, or analytical activities and would occur in an office setting in Arlington, Virginia, at Argonne National Laboratory, and at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.
