The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide federal funding to Agira, Inc. to advance the proposed novel concentrated solar collector technology from a prototype collector to an integrated large area collector module.

Proposed project activities would include the design, fabrication, lab and field testing of waveguide optical collector modules for concentrated solar power (CSP) applications. Design, fabrication and indoor laboratory testing would be conducted at Boston University's Photonics Center in Boston, MA. Some of the fabrication work including optical mold fabrication and injection molding would be conducted at AMF Optics in Woburn, MA and Reliance Engineering in Lancaster, MA. The field testing of the optical collector modules would be performed at Sandia National Labs, Albuquerque, NM.
