On April 16, 2010, DOE published a final rule in the Federal Register amending the energy conservation standards for residential water heaters. Under this Notice of Proposed Rulemaking DOE is proposing to clarify in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) at 10 CFR 430.32(d) that the regulations for residential water heaters do not apply to water heaters meeting the definition of “solar assisted fossil fuel storage water heater” and “solar assisted electric storage water heater.”
