DOE prepared the draft environmental impact statement (DOE/EIS-0226) that evaluates alternatives for integrated sitewide actions to complete DOE decontamination and decommissioning activities and provide for the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority's closure and long-term management of facilities at the Western New York Nuclear Service Center. This EIS analyzes alternatives of no action (monitoring and maintenance), complete removal and off-site disposal, complete removal and storage on premises, in-place stabilization and on-premises disposal, and discontinue operations.
