The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide funding to Temple University to design, synthesize and characterize macromolecular catalysts that display metalo-salen complexes within deep pockets to control Lewis acid catalyzed polymerization reactions and form specific polyester polymers. The catalysts would then be used to assemble alternating, stereospecific polyester polymers composed of two and three monomers.
