DOE’s Fuel Cells Technology Office is proposing to make a decision that would enable the selection of finalists in the DOE’s H2 Refuel competition. The H2 Refuel competition encourage teams from across the United States to develop systems that generate and dispense hydrogen from resources commonly available to residences Once selected, finalists would enter the testing phase, based on submitted designs, data and plans. The finalists would have seven months to complete their systems, and then be evaluated on both technical and economic criteria. The team that meets the base criteria and receives the highest score would be awarded a $1 million prize
There was a previous NEPA determination (H2 Prize-001; CX A9; 7/28/2014) in which DOE proposed to publish a notice in the Federal Register to announce and open its H2 Refuel competition. This NEPA review is for the administrative task of allowing the continuation of the H2 Refuel competition.
